My dealer gave me a copy of the "internal only" AOA 2008 Audi TT Pocket Guide. Page 43 says "Q: What exactly is launch control and how does it work? A: The selector has to be in postion S or in the "tip" gate and ESP deactivated. With his footpressed right down on the brake pedal, the driver can then give full throttle, and the engine speed is held at appoximately 3200 rpm. And then letting the brake pedal go abruptly, he can accelarate the TT all-out with full power."
Translation: We get launch control (but only men can use it?). I sure hope this is real.
