But I see what you are saying. Isn't it rumoured that the entire TT S/RS program is cancelled/under review. I don't think it would make much sense for a 250 and 265 versions of the same vehicle. Audi should stick to a base 2.0T version with 225 or a bit more hp and a 300+ 3.6 V6. If it fits with DSG.

They are two completely different animals.

Reason that a 3.6VR6 exists is that VAG has reached the limit of power out of their 3.2 VR6.

The 3.1 V6 (listed as a 3.2) has shown the ability to pump out more power as seen in the roadjet concept.

The A5 will have the engine, in some form, from the A6 not the engine found in the TT and other traverse engined VAG products. My comments refer to the 3.1 l V6 engine that honkthnonkie is writing about in his post.
