View Full Version : Audi TT, a diesel? John J Szobocsan 07-10-2006, 11:54 AM

Diesel this!

2953 07-10-2006, 12:04 PM ... But not for the U.S. market. Yet. Been in the lifecycle plan for the second generation TT for nearly two years. I mentioned it way back when, and if the search function worked better you could probably find it fairly quickly. John J Szobocsan 07-10-2006, 12:17 PM I do remember your posting of the prospects of a diesel powered TT. I though that many on the forum would find this article informative. -J 2953 07-10-2006, 12:37 PM ... My apologies if I came across a bit on the snippy side. It wasn't a result of your posting but rather an old one of mine. I was all but positive I posted something on the TT TDI and then tried to STFA to find it. Unsuccessfully, I might add. What with Audi planning a major TDI offensive in the U.S. market with plans to bring an A8, A6 and (eventually) two Q7s with turbodiesels, the TT could end up part of the TDI family, but right now that critter looks like it's going to remain on the other side of the Atlantic pond. John J Szobocsan 07-10-2006, 12:50 PM No offense taken. I always enjoy reading your posts. Your posts have provided valued insight into Audi. Perhaps, one of these days, GM and Ford will perform similar to the great European and Japanese marques. Best, -J TT31 07-10-2006, 03:28 PM What is the story with the TT & the 230 hp GTI 30th. Anniversary engine? Will the TT see that tuned-up 2.0T engine 353/s/ 07-11-2006, 06:37 AM Kinda disappointing though... Now that I know the GTI is going to have the 230hp... makes it less attractive. I know Audi/VW do it to save cost, but in reality the TT is going to face the same problems the first Generation did. The Golf GTI/ JETTA / A3 comparison. I strongly believe that Audi needs to create more difference between there powertrains... at least the 1.8T quattro we got last go around was 225hp... over 40 more hp. than the VW version. Now it looks we are getting all the VW hand me downs for engines... at least that is how it's going to be perceived. Ah the complications of consolidation and parts sharing ;) Rawhide Rosenwad 07-11-2006, 08:59 AM TT31 07-11-2006, 09:38 AM If so, the mass-produced GTI should only receive the 200 hp 2.0T then. Any idea on when the 230 hp 2.0T will be available for the MK2? Thanks. 353/s/ 07-11-2006, 10:23 AM As for the anniversary edition... I hope it is... much like they did with the Turbo S New Beetle (180hp)... limited 1 year run (25 year anniversary for the U.S.) TT31 07-11-2006, 12:25 PM then I hope the year starts with its release in Europe. Do you think the TT-S will be at least a year in? 353/s/ 07-11-2006, 05:45 PM Apparently the new 2.0T FSI 260 requires a higher grade of fuel (93 octane or higher) Not all states in the U.S. require 93 octane for premium fuel. So do to reliability issues Audi will most likely not sell the motor here. The TTR is another story. 3.2 FSI with 302hp! No word on release date or price. This of course is all based on comments from Mr. 4#'s! |
