A guy on the U.K. forum is stating the 250hp 3.2 will be dropped soon for a 260hp version of the 2.0T... then the TTS will be a 280-300hp version of the 3.6. I find this hard to believe. I know you have stated different in several post... just curious if maybe AG has changed their minds recently?

...<font color="003366"> 2.0 HOTFSI was never intended to replace the 3.2. It's planned as an additive model that will be rawer and and less refined than the 250HP 3.2. That said, it is conceiveable that in <u>some</u> markets, the high-output turbo could replace the 3.2, it'd be a fools mission. The transfer price on the HO turbo will be higher than the cooking 3.2.

Something I haven't gotten into yet is the potential of the HOTFSI making it to the States. As installed in the S3, this is one seriously sensitive engine regarding fuel. It needs, no make that, demands high octane fuel to make that extra power. The lack of 93 octane fuel in California and a few other states, indicates <i>to me</i>, that as it's currently configured the S engine hasn't got a snowball's chance in Hell of making it to the west side of the Atlantic.</font>

please say it ain't so! (Regarding the HOTFSI) I have so many hopes pinned on that car. What's up w/ the "cooking" 3.2?

Most likely that will be out of my price range. We'll see... as a promotion might be in my near future :)

...<font color="003366"> S will make between 255 and 260 DIN HP (depending on final emissions tune to meet transitional Euro4/Euro5).

The target for the HO6 is 302 (<i>actually</i> it's 225kW, but that works out to about 302HP).</font>

Especially since the other isn't?

So basically the TTS is replacing the Quattro Sport and the TTR is a new baby for us :)

...<font color="003366"> opinion on my part. Albeit one precipitated by comments about fuel sensitivity and the lack of high octane unleaded in several important states by the powertrain engineers.

Don't give up hope. But it would be wise to temper your desires with a bit of reality.</font>

...<font color="003366"> the powertrain engineers I've talked to say they can't get to the 255~260 mark and still comply with emissions or mechanical durability.</font>

is apparently producing too much heat (my guess) in pushing the 2.0 to make 260 horses on 91 octane. Heat management issues are typically the culprit when it comes to decreased engine reliability.

Damn! I am now officially putting the "cooking" 3.2 w/ a traditional manual tranny on my wish list....
