All the cars you are seeing in the press an such are preproduction models... They just started production last week.

You can blame Safety Testing and Emissions for the delays to the U.S.A... so all in all we are only having to wait about 9 months after the release... It's not that bad! Nothing like the VW GTI... which took 2 years!

...<font color="003366"> in the home market, just an R. For the moment it looks like RS will be reserved for the hottest A4 and A6 derivatives. If marketing gets its way, at any rate.

Big question regarding the TT is whether or not it'll get a hyphen on the zippier versions.</font>

...<font color="003366"> introduce as many versions at one time is the foremost. The original TT had an extended launch that started with 180HP FWD coupes, then 180 Quattros followed by the 225 coupe and then the two roadsters.

Audi AG and AoA both wanted to concentrate the launch efforts and roll out the volume versions of the car at one time. So, rather than dribbling them out over nine months, come June of next year there will be 2.0L, 2.0L S-Line and 3.2L S-Line coupes and roadsters on sale. The delay also saves certification costs for a functionally short model year and get the company a helluva lot more bang for it's launch bucks.</font>

Latest inside reports say this:

- TTS will have a revised 3.2L with FSI. Output will reach 300hp. The engine block is also expected to use more aluminum.

- The eventual TTRS will have the same 3.2 FSI as the TTS, but with twin turbo chargers yielding around 400 hp. Twin-charging (turbo and supercharging) has also been mentioned, but at this point unlikely.

A further refined Haldex clutch is also rumored to push more of the initial torque towards the rear axel for the TT's S models.

As far as I can tell, it's not considered a conflict in the company. Besides, in the case of the TT the model letter will be a suffix, not a prefix as is the cas of that solitary VW "R car."</font>

... Could be a load of horse**** of course, as is usually the case with 'inside' reporting.

However, the 3.2L FSI for the sport variant is the one report I find the most reliable at this point.

Is so that insurance ratings of the new model are better. (Who wants all the early experience with the monster torque variants trying to set land/air/tree speed records?)

...<font color="003366"> TT and current (2007MY) A3 situation where the base powertrain model has base bodywork and the 3.2s had/have S-Line appearance, you might get an idea of what's to come.

Meebe even an S-Line option for the 2.0TFSI FWD model.</font>
