Last weekend at the Miller Motorsports Park driving event a friend was co-driving my car and missed a 2nd-3rd shift and did a 2nd-1st shift instead. Fortunately he caught it quickly enough that my engine didn't over-rev (We looked to see if one had been recorded and one wasn't) but needless to say it trashed the clutch.

Looking below you can see that my clutch was in really good shape for having 35k on the odometer - plenty of friction material left, but the missed shift literally ripped all the friction material off the motor side of the clutch disk...

Flywheel - Nice coloring from high temp, but the two pieces of the flywheel can freely move. Normally the pieces don't move freely.

I was able to drive the car home from the event after this happened, although the clutch was very 'chattery' on engagement.

and I hope the IRS auditors catch that nasty stuff your trying to do on your personal tax return.
