Looks like the bill passed that will allow speed limits higher than 75 mph - at least on I-15 between milemarkers 222 and 64.

It's also now illegal to hold up traffic in the left lane. We'll see if that ever is enforced, though.

Utah joins 80 mph speed limit club

fuel economy drops like a rock above that, least in my car.

was it Montana that used to have a speed limit of "safe and reasonable" now that would be a real improvement.

At typical State Gov't speed of business we should see that new limit transfered to some other roads (I-80 west of SLC Int'l and east of Kimball JCT) sometime before I go on medicare.

not that it meant you couldn't get a speeding ticket, if the cop thought you were going to fast for your car/skill/whatever.

They got rid of it due to Federal gov't pressure and the threat of losing funding.

But again, while its nice and will reduce the amount a speeding ticket costs, going much above 80mph really kills fuel economy in nearly all cars.

I'm not sure how many of you have spent time abroad, but I have spent a few years in europe and continue to make at least one trip annually, And it just seems like everyone is paying attention to everyone else and adapts to them. No one gets angry if you want to go faster, they move out of your way as soon as possible, no dirty looks or middle fingers. Why is it that everyone gets pissed off if you try to pass them?

No way is a suburban, van etc safe over 75 mph especially full of people & luggage.

passing a trooper going the other way, while cruising at 100 felt very very strange, in a fun sorta way

sometimes its nice to cut it to 4 even though gas mileage suffers
