Any suggestions? I live in Sandy. My insurance highly suggested "Sterling Auto Body". A family member had their car worked on there and it turned out better than I expected from them. Rather take it to a shop that deals with mostly higher end cars...

I spoke with Audi Strong and they suggest a shop called "Alpine Auto Renovation". Who only deal with higher end cars.

-but-

Just wanted to have some more suggestions. So does anyone have any experience with a local body shop here in Salt Lake. Preferably with their Audi? Personal experiences? Good or bad? Pictures Posted Below...

TIA.

We use Schneiders but there are plenty of people who do good work and bad work out there. Maybe get some referrals you can call? I know Venturas has rolled a few fenders for people here and have done good work.

Bill at Ventura's is a great guy and so is Jerry Mackie at Wasatch. Those shops are right across the street from each other. Wasatch tends to be on the more expensive side.

Bill is great to work with if you want some extra things done along with your repair.

I'd be happy to give the full story off the forum.

I told Alan I was looking for someone who had experience taking Audi door panels off without wrecking them and someone who was sensitive to maintaining the galvanizing. He recommended Atherton.

I haven't had the work done yet, but the shop and owner at Atherton seemed up and up.

btw, it looks like all your damage is on parts that you can take off and bolt new ones on. I'd check car-parts.com and see if you can find your parts with the same color factory paint and pocket the difference in cash. If the parts are local you can look them over well before buying them and make sure they're up to your standard.

If I go through a shop and have them do the work they will cover whatever the amount is minus my $500 deductible.

If I just "do it myself" and hunt down all the parts. Install them myself they will only cut me a check for <$2,000.

I figure new hood, bumper, two new door shells, touch up on the front and rear right fenders, a lot of paint >$5,000.

So I am having a shop do it all.

I've also seen the work they've done on MarkFank's car and the work Ventura's has done. Like he said, Bill is very nice and they do great work as well.

You are entitled to get one or more estimates and settle on a fair price with the insurance company. The ins co is obligated to make the check out to YOU, and YOU decide how to spend it.

If they're doing anything else a quick call to the state insurance commission should straighten them out quickly.

European Only in Orem has a silver A6 in their yard right now. I'd call them with your parts list and see what it would total up to. They *are* a little expensive, but they usually have what a person needs. At the very least, you could significantly reduce the repair cost by using used parts of the right color.

Recently had a family member's car done there. They called every other day with updates and the car looked better than when we originally bought that car. Now mind you it wasn't an Audi but they did a good job.

I will keep ya guys posted on how it goes down.

As far as right now this is all I know:

Just found out the ETA on my car from the body shop... Jan 23rd... =(

Woman from the body shop said most likely sooner but that was the ETA given by the computer for what was being done in hours.

Replacing:

Front Bumper
Passenger Side Headlight
Repairing Hood
New front grill
New lower bumper inserts
New Quattro front badge (fell off)
Repair Front Passenger Side Fender
All new door molding
Repair Front Passenger Door
Repair Rear Passenger Door
Repair Rear Quarter Panel
Replace both "scratched" front & rear passenger side rims

Total Cost: $5,500
ETA: January 23, 2007 :(

My car has been gone for three days and I already can barely stand not having it...

So after this accident, a long night of hard work installing the Eibach Pro System and after waiting for 36 days straight driving a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban V2500 3/4 Ton 5.7L V8, I was going crazy without my Audi!

Here just some pictures I took at the body shop right before I left. Also included below is my wonderful invoice. I will most likely take a lot more pictures when I get the chance and the weather cooperates. Stay tuned.
