this new 6x line of tripods is quite an improvement over the old 13xx line.

Locks are finally comfortable to operate, that stupid air-cushioning that made legs impossible to extend quickly is now gone.

And, of course, ALR (anti-leg-rotation) is great - about time Gitzo implemented something that others had for years now.

It's also lighter and sturdier than its 1348 predecessor.

Overall pretty happy. It's gonna replace my Velbon NeoCarmagne 740, which is a bit stiffer, but slightly heavier and has a center column, which I never use and don't really like...

I have no idea what the older Gitzo's sell for, but the twist locks drive me nuts. It's always a two-handed affair. Sounds like the newer ones eliminate that?

I can unlock all three locks on one leg (mine is 4-section) with one hand in one short twist. Locking is very quick - maybe 1/4 or 1/2 turn. Locks are also easier to grip than the old ones.

can't believe how much better it is!!

I scored a pre-owned 1325 for a song. Aside from ALR, I can't see what else could be better. No, let me say it this way..I don't think I want to see what might be better!!
