Kinda like the B5 FAQ. Useful or waste of time?

:P

my suggestions:

- basics of photography and terminology

- from viewfinder to print/diplay (camera settings, RAW/JPEG, color, post-processing, image/data management, etc - break this one down into sub-sections)

- cameras/lenses

- support gear

My only concern is, how many people actually visit AW Photo? What you are suggesting requires quite a bit of effort and deserves a large audience... Kris - are there such stats?

Not so sure about that.

Personally, I'd LOVE to have a wiki going, but that's a pipe dream right now.

I don't much of anything about Photoshop or shooting in RAW. I'd like to know what people generally do with the file as it comes out of the camera. How do you convert the RAW? What file formats do you save to? What are you doing for basic color correction and white balancing? What adjustments do you make for a photo for printing versus online viewing?

I can take the pictures, but it's seeming more and more obvious to me that a lot of the truly GREAT photos are made so by the post processing.

There can be entire subsections on things like HDR images, tilt-shift stuff, etc.

lose out on IQ and only a high-quality UV filter is on if the conditions force it.

I used to use a CP alot but now skip it altogether.
