let me correct you

while your wife may give you a hard time about spending money on photo gear...

we've now gotten to a point that when the 5D is (hopefully/speculatively) replaced this fall... we're probably just going to have to get two. And another 'walkaround' L zoom.

Take what you spend on photography. Now double it. Just buy two of everything.

That's the alternative. OR... fight over who gets to use the good stuff.

Most people with SO's take what they spend on camera equipment and double it so they can buy [a bribe] for the SO. That's IF they even get the green light. The only difference here is you get more gear...now whether you choose to spend it on another 5D or a 1DmkIII is your business! :-)

Try all you want, we're not feeling any pity for you, unless she locks you in the basement so she can sleep with the camera gear! Then we'll need a picture to decide whether to express pity. :-)

If my wife was into it, I would be sure not to have two of anything... Why build your kit deep when you can build it wide!!
