I am looking to buy new hardware. I am thinking of a desktop since I can get a lot of power for cheaper.

suits my needs. Don't need anything new for a while. Other than the largest files, I don't have any slow time at all.

or it's gonna be obsolete in 15 minutes. My G4 dual 1.4 lasted 7 years. With the ram expansion (64gb) of this machine I expect it should last at least that long.

If I want to print something, then I go to the desktop

20D files - a little slow but I still can take it.
Now that I use 5D, it takes a while just to open the file in Canon DPP.

My powerbook is 877mHz and 1Gb of memory.
