but in daylight when I want a slow shutter for blur, I cant seem to get proper exposure even at f22 and iso100....

So what am i not doing right? How do I take slow shutter shots without blowing exposure?

You can also use a polarizing filter to cut down the amount of light, if you have one.

Figure out what shutter speeds you're getting at say f11, count the difference in number of stops to the shutter speed you're looking for, and buy the appropriate filter.

If you don't want to shell out for the ND's, then buy a circular polarizer...it's the most useful filter you can own and with a one to one and half stop penalty..which is what you want.

that i use to get to shoot at a wider aperture on a sunny day when using flashes. works great. most brands maxes out at 3-stop but B+W has 6-stop and 10-stop ND filters but its expensive.

I guess I'll do some filter reading first.

Hi-Tech makes drop in filters and the Cokin P holder is easy to find.

2Filter.com sells a set of two ND Grads, the Cokin P holder and an adapter ring for like $55. Add a 2 stop ND to a 2 stop soft and a 3 stop hard and you have a great landscape kit..for under $60

Faster to adapt to changing light and you can dodge and burn with the filter during the exposure. For example, moving the filter vertically to blend the gradient.
