Well, I think that's what it's called... I got a couple of shots of these two guys practicing today. There's a big competition on Sunday, so I'll probably go and try taking better pics. Looks pretty scary but they were obviously having fun.

Where is that?

Yeah, they are too saturated. The water was very very brown&yellow and the sun was low, so the colors were pretty strong and contrasty to begin with. Have to do some desaturating to make them look more natural.

I took the pics here in Helsinki. This place is only about 10 miles north of the city centre.

Thanks for the comments!

I assumed they were processed on a less than accurate monitor, not that they came out of the camera that way.

I added some saturation and contrast in post-processing but I also desaturated the images today after looking at them again. My monitor is pretty well calibrated and gives accurate results, so any "weird" tones are probably my fault :)

I boosted the colors and contrast because the guys were mostly in shadow and everything was just yellow and brown blur because of the dirty water. I underexposed the pics by a full stop, so that didn't help much.

The 1DsM3 produces very nice, neutral images, so it's up to the shooter to make them look even better or really bad :) I usually post-process my images pretty conservatively but then all my friends say that my pics lack color and contrast :)

Here's one more pic without any post-processing.

looked like that day.

But that one is much better.

The blue kayak, unedited image, looks dull, you are correct.

My opinion? Shoot for somewhere in the middle of the two.

For this photo I brightened the shadows a bit (which intensified the greens), so it does indeed have a bit more punch than the raw image. Also the overall image is a tad brighter than it should be for 100% realism.
You do have a good eye!

I took this photo in better light than most of the others, so the colors were more vivid to begin with.

I'll try keep in the middle of the road. Thanks for the help!
