Just got myself a generic Off-Camera Shoe Cord for the 20D off of ebay. Showed up Tuesday. Works great, only cost me $37 shipped. I plan on using it primarily for macro shots mounted to a flash bracket, but I suppose it may also come in handy at some weddings this summer.

Fleabay listing

don't you use radio triggers? why don't you just use those, though?

I think the cord is also longer than the Canon's own version, right?

Quality seems pretty robust - enough to handle normal usage. Plus, it's half the price of the real thing. Only downside I can see so far is the cord on the flash end is attached to the left side of the block, rather than the front like the Canon.

I guess it's enough if you're going to hand-hold the flash unit, but it takes a bit too much force to keep the cord fully stretched out. Uncomfortable, I'd say.

granted you lose ETTL, but manual mode is hardly difficult to learn.

it's too long to use on a flash bracket so I am going to chop it up and insert some quick connects in.
