I usually keep it on Auto but I've seen some pictures where people use a tripod and keep the shutter open longer for some incredible looking pictures.

I've looked in the instruction manual and it's very vague in the descriptions. The most it talks about is the using the included software to edit pictures. I don't want to do any editing I just want to be able to take some nice looking pictures.

Can someone help me set up my camera to take some pictures like this?

I've included a link to the advanced setup menus.<ul><li><a href="http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0900001430/PSSD600IXUS60CUGad-EN.pdf">http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0900001430/PSSD600IXUS60CUGad-EN.pdf</a</li></ul>

for tripod/slow shutter shots. This is usually done in low light situations. Try 1-5 seconds, ISO 100, in a dark room. See pg. 52 on linked PDF.

when I was trying to take some pictures of an object with light coming out towards the camera I had terrible results.

I've been wanting to capture some HD still pictures paused on my Pioneer Elite Plasma.

What setting should I play around with to accomplish good results here?
