Just won an old folding 6X9 camera. No exposure metering. Not even a battery....

So, I need a lightmeter with spot meter functionality. Hopefully one that doesn't cost a fortune. Suggestions?

Thanks!

What about using your digital SLR as a super sophisticated light meter with preview?

Even a simple digicam will give pretty good results.

If you really need a light meter, any Sekonic one will be fine. You should be able to pick up a good simple used one for little money.

And welcome to slow photography - just like slow food, the pleasures are worth waiting for!

The built-in meter of a camera you already own, as mentioned below, is also a cheap option.

The whole point of the folder is ease of carrying. I looked at Sekonic's on B&H, and the ones with spotmeter capability seem to start at $500! Maybe I'll have to live with an ambient sensor. Or am I missing something? For that price, I'll buy a tiny point and shoot with a histogram exposure display (if such a thing exists).

Using an incident light meter should be fine. When your camera was designed that was all there was and they are so easy to use and give accurate exposures.

Any suggestions for a good (new or used) incident light meter that's a nice size to carry?
