I am an ammature at taking pics, sooo tell me what you think of this, or what i should have done different. I'm still in the process of learning the camera which i've had for over a year now (Digital Rebel) I'm thinking of returning the lense to go with an IS one.

If so, learn to use this feature, it's really handy for naturally lit objects and sceneds where you just aren't sure of proper exposure.

Shoot in RAW, maybe underexpose by 1/3 stop. Isolate your subject against a non-distracting background, and don't place things smack in the middle of the frame. Are you familiar with the Rule of Thirds? If not, a quick Google search should sort that out.
Check my post here. Notice the eyes/heads are at the thirds and I tried to get the flowers composed nicely. In your shot, I would have moved to the left slightly to get those two stems away from the main flower and gotten more of the stem of the main flower in the pic, moving the bud up and to the left some.
