I realize to do this right I need a light modifier. I currently have an umbrella/softbox combo for a fill flash if necessary with my Sunpak 383. I need a reflector large enough for a family portrait. So I narrowed it down to these:

1) Impact Collapsible Reflector 5-in-1 - 42x72" Oval - Black, Silver, White, Gold and Translucent w/Impact Multiboom Light Stand and Reflector Holder.

This highly versatile portrait reflector kit allows one, two or three reflector panels to be individually positioned around the model to give the lighting effect required.

The kit comes complete with one Silver/Gold and two Sunlight/Silver reflectors. The three multi-angle joints can also be used to mount any of the reflectors individually on to a lighting stand. Each reflector measures 36x24" making the reflector kit suitable for both individual or group portraits.

Total $155.

2) Paterson Portrait Reflector Kit w/ Impact Light Stand - Black, 6'. Total $129.

I'm leaning towards option 1, what do you guys think?

The second looks like a fairly nice indoor portrait setup. Have you looked at Photoflex stuff? Their <a href="http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=RootPage.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&shs=photoflex+litepanel&image.x=7&image.y=8">Litepanels</a> and <a href="http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=productlist.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&shs=photoflex+multidisc">MultiDiscs</a> could also be what you need.

sold out and they cost more. I'm also afraid that they would become a kite if not properly weighted. I also need the option to turn it horizontal, which the more expensive lite panel can do. The patterson is a multi-kit and can go horizontal and vertical on the boom stand.

For my indoor stuff I use foam-core bookends which seem to work fine, I just needed something portable for outdoor shoot.

Thanks again for the input.
