Smoking a cigarette on my porch tonight, I saw this fella hanging around just 15-20 yards away. I ran inside, mounted the 300 2.8 IS with 1.4x converter (thank God for IS, didn't have time to change ISO for the first shots, they were at 1/40!!)

He didn't mind the shutter sound until I got too close...

Combination of trying to be quiet getting into position and handholding even the smaller of the superteles, gets you tired verty quickly. I can only imagine spending a day hanging in the woods with the 500 or 600mm

Man, I wish my neck were as flexible as his! With three fused vertebrae and girls everywhere, my hip is getting a run for the money!
