Hey everyone,
Thought I'd share some shots I got in this morning when I was helping out my gf taking pictures for a local community center that she works at. It was my first time taking swimming pictures and it was pretty fun! I wish my lens was faster as the day got cloudier, but I'm saving up for my 300mm f2.8 lens!!
In total I only shot about 200 pictures so these are the best of the bunch... I quickly found out which strokes are the easiest to capture. Freestyle pretty much sucks, while the butterfly is the easiest. I wasn't able to stick around for the breast or backstroke (although now I wish I did, just for curiousity's sake).
All these were taken with my Nikon D70s with a Tamron 28-300 f3.5-6.3 lens. I'd love any comments/advice.
Thanks!
These first two, I had trouble getting the right exposure for the subject. As you can see there was a lot of reflection off the water and the swimmer was in darkness. How do I fix this? Any ideas? I tried center metering right on his face, but that didn't quite work out. I also tried just manually exposing it, but the water would get blown out.
