IMHO selective color is more of a gimmick. There are only a few shots I've ever seen where it looks "right" or enhances the original. However, your intended audience really has the last say in it, so if she likes it, go ahead.

I did it for her :) Maybe I'll slap the photo on the side of a handbag for her. I'll save that for when I really screw up and need to make things right. Like when I order the 20D without asking her...doh!
