I've been struggling with color management. Just calibrated my monitor and tweaked photoshop's color settings to make sure I'm working in Adobe RGB instead of sRGB. Still, I get an image just how I want it in photoshop and it's horribly desaturated once I upload it and view it through any browser. I'm about ready to give up on the whole thing. Any tips?

that is, if you're going to display it on your computer or uploading to the internet. if you're printing, you don't want sRGB.
should be under edit->convert to profile, in CS2
or in CS, under image->mode->convert to profile

Will browsers actually have different color management schemes? I'm surprised that two such similar browsers view an identical image differently.

RGB is used for editing and printing (at home mostly) because it allows you to use a larger range of colors (primarily cyans and greens, and intense orange and magentas).

but it doesnt actually convert the profile, just interprets it, so it comes out bland and unsaturated.

I have no idea why/when I got sRGB and RGB mixed up in my head.

i was having the same problem a while ago. i would end up increasing the saturation by 20-40% before saving just to get the colors right, before i realized that i had to convert.
