Are the lenses more expensive or anyother reason to stick with nikon/cannon for my first DSLR?

I'm not sure what that's about...but that alone sends me running to Canon/Nikon.

but as soon as DSLRs became reasonable

OLY (as great as they were) was left in the DUST

They are too intent on designing cameras compact as if compactness were more important than function, a good maker of endoscope and microscope though.
