I'm looking at getting the 5.1 megapixel one, just for school and fun. Its really small, which is a big draw to me, and it seems to take good pictures. Anyone have any experience with it or others like it? Thanks.

View Full Version : What do people think of the Sony Cyber-Shot? Jakub101 08-16-2005, 05:30 PM I'm looking at getting the 5.1 megapixel one, just for school and fun. There's the W series, the T series, the F series, etc. For the record, I love my two-year-old F717. It's very versatile and takes great pics. Mike S 08-16-2005, 08:17 PM elitotaco 08-16-2005, 08:49 PM After spending a long time comparing cameras, the only real deciding factors for the Sony P&S I got, and the Canon's I was looking at, were the menu setup and ease of use. 1QuikA4 08-17-2005, 06:49 AM

http://www.dpreview.com</a

Jakub101 08-17-2005, 05:16 PM I just feel like its so small that it couldnt take good pictures... Might be wrong though, and what about ease of use? Here's a picture. Mike S 08-17-2005, 05:44 PM TristanP 08-17-2005, 06:30 PM The problem with that is usually short battery life and not so stellar pictures. What are your priorities with your camera purchase?

Sony announcement

Jakub101 08-17-2005, 09:25 PM I dont really know a lot about cameras and I figure maybe thats what you get for a P&S. Picture quality is important to me, but so is size. I can usually figure out technology, so a simple menu isnt required, but it would be nice. Basically, I'm just beginning the search for a casual camera, and one of my friends has the T7, so it sparked my interest. Mike S 08-18-2005, 07:11 AM What type of pro work do you do (what field)? You derive 100% of your income from photography? What equipment do you shoot? Sony's CCD's are generally considered garbage. Their optics are plastic. Their memory stick is antiqueted, as well as being epensive, proprietary and too large. It's the beta of this decade. You cannot get quick service from Sony, let alone service in the South of Portugal, North of South Korea or Central Wyoming. Their cameras are far more fragile and don't benefit from ANY passed down technology from high end pro dslrs. I guess someone has to recommend them. As for the magazine or consumer reviews, well, they recommend Ford Taurus's and Chevy Malibu's over Passats, A4's and 3 series BMW's. Just curious about your pro work, not trying to be a jerk. On a couple review sites they recommended the 300 over the 400 because they said it was pushing the hardware to the limits and there was more a decent amount of noise with the 400. I just picked up the SD200 for my first camera. This site has a ton of reviews including all of the SD series and an article comparing the SD400 to the SD500

http://www.dcresource.com/

Mike S 08-22-2005, 12:14 PM have been names Fuji Sports Photographer of the Year, won "Best Image of the Olympiad", had nine Wheaties boxes, worked on the "Got Milk" campaign, are employed by three auto manufacturers, are contracted to Time-Life Pictures, have had over 200 covers, including Sports Illustrated, won over 30 inernational photo awards, are sponsored by Nikon and LowePro , have been a team photographer for dour major sports teams (NBA, ABL, US Soccer and MLS Soccer teams) and are one of only three US independents to shoot the last four Olympic. You do also realize that Sony makes the sensors in most of the digicams sold by Nikon and Canon, right? Finally, you do realize that Nikon digicams are actually made by Sanyo, right? |
