View Full Version : 10D vs. 20D Brooklyn 08-16-2005, 07:10 AM for a noob at DSLR's, worth the price difference? RKA 08-16-2005, 08:04 AM Better autofocusing, esp in low light. More resolution (not a big deal, but it's there). On board flash is mounted a little higher (if you need it). Better high ISO pictures (slightly). Better battery longevity (I think). Longer shutter life (double I believe). Faster overall operation (turn on, turn off, shutter lag, etc.). More fps (for sports/action work). Compatibility with EF-S lenses (10D won't work with the 10-22 EF-S which is a big drawback for me) And probably a few other things that I forgot. Whether thats worth paying twice the price is up to you. The 10D is still an exceptional camera and very capable in the right hands. It just depends on what you have in your budget. And most will tell you not to sacrifice a lens for a camera body. So if you need lenses, spend the extra $600 on good glass, and get the 10D instead of the 20D. Brooklyn 08-16-2005, 09:19 AM having not owned a film SLR, you can imagine my surprise when I discovered just how much lenses can cost!! Tanner 08-16-2005, 10:20 AM Also, you get warranty with a new 20D of course.

10D vs 20D

SpfldS4 08-16-2005, 03:00 PM jal6231 08-16-2005, 03:34 PM HeySoos 08-16-2005, 11:42 PM I got it last November for $1000 with the extra battery attachment. I would never buy a used digi from anyone but him, he takes care of his equipment better than anyone I know. I would have loved the 20D but I spent the extra dough on a 17-40L f/4 and then ended up buying a 70-200L f/4. The camera is amazing and I have never regretted my choice. When I do decide to upgrade, my L series lenses will make it a nicer transition. Brooklyn 08-17-2005, 03:19 AM will be back in a few days to query you guys about different body/lens packages. is it just me or does the search function not allow search of this particular forum? RKA 08-17-2005, 04:33 AM Not much to search though...only a few pages on this forum right now. Brooklyn 08-17-2005, 06:42 AM RKA 08-17-2005, 05:15 PM Instead it'll be RTFFYFF! :-P |
