they must really be trying to burn the Ds MII owners...

it's a Semi Pro body.

It's still not a 1 series.

Though all 1 series camera's after this will be FF.

The DsmkII is 17mpx and built like a tank.
Also has 45 af points and not 9
and does 4fps, not 3....

there are thier differences S........

I'll use my mkII for sports and this for everything else now.

I see the 5D as an 'entry level' camera in the xD lineup ... way I see it there are three lineups... xxxD (enthusiasts, 1.6x crop factor), xxD (enthusiasts with money to burn/semi pros, 1.6x crop factor), xD (enthusiasts who have way too much money, pros, full frame).

The 5D is a great answer from Canon.... full frame and at a pretty good resolution and under $4000US where a lot of people didn't think this would be possible.

Competition is good is all I have to say!

So who wants to sell me the 1D MrkII for cheap :)

Well, not "cheap" but....

The 5D is almost the camera I was looking for 8 months ago when I bought a 1D. Unfortunately, by the time the 5D hits the streets, I'm thinking there will be a $1K price differential between the used value of a 1DmII and a 5D. For me, that's a little hard to swallow.

but i'm still a bit baffeled by the full frame... oh well.

it will be interesting to see what the Ds Mark III has in store for pros. 25mpx anyone?

no matter what, Nikon is dead!

A LIGHT weight, full frame body, that I won't need to worry about the durability of.
I have mkII's for the hard stuff.

This will work quite nicely on my car mounts.

Now that the mkII's are down to about 3500 each, it'll be right next to a 1 series camera.

You need FF and 13mpx you get a 5D.
You need Super fast AF, 8.5fps, you get a mkII.

You can own both of those cameras for the cost of ONE 1DsmkII.

No brainer for most people not making a living at photography.

I make a decent chunk still with my photo stuff and the 5D will fit nicely in my line up.

What is going to happen really soon, is the the 1 series camera's will be lumped into ONE PRO body.

a 17+mpx, FF sensor that does 8fps........
The best of both worlds in ONE PRO body.
(this is rumored, but fairly realiable sources state this)

But, as you said S, Nikon is DEAD !!
