I just want a point and shoot camera that takes decent shots(maybe I'll take up photography as a new hobby). I'd like it to be small enough to carry it around in my pocket. I can pick one up from dell for $260 and thats about as much as I'd like to spend. It seems like the SD300 is my best bet but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations/comments.
Though it's a little on the large size...just large enough that I might not consider it "pocketable".
If you think this might be a hobby, I would encourage you to look at cameras that offer more manual control. If you just want a point and shoot, I'm sure the SD300 will fit the bill just fine.

but size is a bigger priority for me now. A friend of mine has an S60 and I've carried it around in my pocket before but its pretty bulky, especially compared to the SD series. I went to go check them out at a store today and wow are they small. Its like the size of my cell phone. Size was a big factor for me too, I can't tell you how many times I've said "I wish I had a camera with me". With the SD I can carry it with me all the time.
I actually went with the SD200 instead, I figure I dont need the extra .7 megapixels and would rather have $70 in my pocket. If I really get into this as a hobby maybe I'll get ask for a nice camera for Christmas or something.
Even with a full size SLR, I can't live without a point and shoot. There are many times where I don't want to tote around a bag full of gear, or other times where I didn't bring the gear, and I find myself saying "I wish I had a camera for this...".
