I know that side assist causes false alerts with radar detectors, but if I were to turn side assist off is there still some sort of residual radar pulses that the system emits?

View Full Version : I have side assist but I'd like to get a new radar detector. Is this a problem? Paul3.2A4avant 07-01-2007, 04:14 AM There is some newer radar gun out there that transmits for just a second or two on a different band. (I forgot the name, but do a search here and you'll find it.) Of course this radar is in the same band as the Q7 side assist. V1 added this band to newer detectors, so the side assist will trigger it constantly. Someone should talk to Valentine Research about the possibility of building an older version V1 that is compatible with the Q7. I'm sure there would be enough people here that would participate in a group buy. The newer Valentine now works like my older one and does not go off because of the side assist. Ted K 07-04-2007, 09:48 AM How is the side assist. Is it an annoying bell and whistle, or is it really worth it. Decided against the adaptive cruise as I hardly ever use cruise, but not sure about side assist. Appreciate some input. Thanks. wbwynn 02-06-2008, 08:37 AM V1 people say turning off POP should not fix the problem. What's your experience? |
