Hello,
First of all, I just want to thank you all for providing great information for potential first time Audi purchasers such as myself. I've found this site to be invaluable the last week or so when trying to find the vehicle I want.
As I mentioned,I spent the last week trying to find a 4.2 a Q7 4.2 Premium S-line with 21" wheels and adaptive air by sending out a blast fax to all the dealers across Canada but according to one dealer I spoke with, as of yesterday, there are only 4 units in the country, 2 are sold and 1 is on a waiting list and the other doesn't have Adaptive Air Suspension.
I haven't faxed the American dealerships yet as I am now in the process of calling each dealership that didn't reply to my blast fax. (UUUUGHHHH) and if you are wondering why I don't just get my local dealer to do this for me it's because other dealers can block their inventory from competing dealers. I have no proof of this but my experiment this week did prove this as I found vehicles that the dealer did not.
Anyway, there is one used one at Crest Cadillac in Plano Texas which I may have to end up making an offer on and bringing over the border. And yes I have done all the research about importing cars into Canada. Note: Audi will honour US warranty in Canada and will put this in writing once you purchase the car. So says Audi Customer Care rep.
So if anyone knows if one of these rare beasts exists north or south of the 49th parallel, I would really appreciate a heads up by replying here or sending me an e-mail.
Specs as follows:
Q7 4.2 Premium S-line with 21" Wheels
Colours - anything except garnet red, bahia beige and sycamore green. Would prefer Daytona Grey Pearl or Quartz Grey Metallic
Must have options
- Adaptive Air Suspension
- Seven seater configuration
anything else would be a bonus
Oh.....I should also mention that in my negotiations with dealers this week, I have discovered that some dealers are padding their lease payments and I would highly recommend that you have a lease calculator handy when getting quotes and negotiating leases. The dealers comment when I discovered it.... "they are lease fees inserted by Audi and he had no control over them." Nice try.
The best calcualtor I have found so far is located here:
http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm
That site is invaluable also when looking at leasing. The kit is worth the $20 many times over but don't pay for the guide if you are going to buy the kit as the kit contains the guide too.
I also created my own excel spreadsheet to double check this one too. It saved me entering into a lease last night where I would have spent an extra $3100 over the 36 month term, so be careful!
Thank you in advance and thanks again for all the information. Although I hate the internet at times, sites like these and leaseguide.com are invaluable to folks wading into new car purchases and leasing. OK..enough babbling.
Cheers!
Sean
