View Full Version : Post Factory Navigation alexc561 04-03-2007, 02:01 PM Anyone know of any post factory navigation kit for the Q7 premium ... just purchased this month. Thanks. K2audi 04-03-2007, 03:14 PM and go factory as much as possible. Chitown Q7 04-03-2007, 03:32 PM I just called my dealer last week about a nav kit for my 3.6 premium. They asked for my VIN # to first see if my Q is wired for nav, then they gave me the part # and price. Sounds like we should be able to just order it from the dealer now. However one dealer quoted $1800 for the nav unit, and another quoted $1400. Haven't had time to do any further homework, but let me know what you find out. I want to buy the unit and install it myself if it will save hundreds in labor. doraemon 04-03-2007, 03:38 PM K2audi 04-03-2007, 04:16 PM

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-Navigation-Module-installatio ExB5S4owner 04-03-2007, 05:55 PM to install an OEM solution. We got tired of waiting for our build date in June '06 and bought a close to identical Q that didn't have Navi. I was on a biz trip to Germany and purchased an extra set of cables. I then took the module from our A6 and after wiring in the cables, snapped in the module, inserted a Version 5 N.A. Disk and was up and running. If you're in/around Boston I'd be happy to help you out with the install. Parts Needed: DVD Module Wiring Kit (for power and data transmission) GPS Antenna or a GPS wire with dual male connectors. The cars are not pre wired. All Audi US models come with a GPS antenna in the shark's fin only you have to have the correct cable to mate up to this connection and run it down to the module. The Q7 is prewired for Sat radio and while the optical and data connectors are identical there isn't nearly enough cable to reach the dvd module's location (Sat module is near the top of the passenger side D Pillar while the Sat Nav module is just to the right of the tool kit for changing tires which is under the trunk storage bin.) I'm happy to post pictures and step by step installs for anyone interested. If you're local to Boston feel free to shoot me a note. Kevin MarkItZero 04-03-2007, 06:26 PM thanks mksap11 04-03-2007, 07:28 PM and to adapt his Navigation unit but he's still having some issues. His problems maybe related to him not having a GPS antenna plugged in but I think that he may be trying to us a US map in an EU spec drive. ExB5S4owner 04-04-2007, 06:03 AM The specified VAG changes are only applicable to set tire sizing. As this is already done for the vehicle (it's set already as the trip computers use this info to calculate avg speed, miles remaining until fill up, etc) there's no need to make any VAG changes. ExB5S4owner 04-04-2007, 06:04 AM I've already installed the unit, but I can pull a panel or two and create a step by step instruction guide. Are you looking for anything in particular? Kevin Chitown Q7 04-04-2007, 06:33 AM The module # for sale on ebay is #4EO 919 887 C, which my Audi dealer tells me is for the A8. When I gave him my VIN #, he told me that the nav module part # that I needed is #4EO 910 888 C. Not sure of the differences, could be different connectors or nothing at all. I'm just skeptical to put anything but the correct part in my Q! Chitown Q7 04-04-2007, 06:36 AM Hey ExB5S4owner- When I look next to my tool kit where the nav module is to be installed, there is a wiring harness sitting back there, waiting to be connected to something. Can you tell me what this harness is for? Thanks! mnq7 04-04-2007, 01:33 PM between 18, 19 and 20 inch tires. It is the rim and sidewall dimensions that change. If that's true, would there need to be any changes made for the nav? I'm asking because the dealer changed from 20's to 18's on my Q7 and I don't know if he made any changes if some were necessary. Thanks. ExB5S4owner 04-04-2007, 06:39 PM The manual states to code channel 01 and enter tire diameter in MM according the the following table: There's a list of tire sizes 255/18 code xxxx, 275/20 code xxxx and the list goes on and on listing probably 12 different tire and size combinations. I wouldn't worry about it as previously stated as the manual is derived as if the car was being assembled and this data wasn't previously entered into the vehicle. I went through and checked all of my settings via VAG and there wasn't anything that needed to be updated. If you swap out 18" for 19" or 20" you might inquire next time you're in for service if there's any coding that should be performed to account for the difference between the two sets of tires. Check out the attached link below to see if the revs/mile is different. I think it's a minor change of 2% +/-

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html</a

ExB5S4owner 04-04-2007, 06:53 PM from our A6, connected the cables I purchased, slide it in and it worked without a hitch. If you guys want to get hung up on trying to decide if 4EO 919 887 C or 4EO 919 888 C or 4EO 919 887 D is the correct one, have at it. Everyone can vote with their own dollars. I can tell you that I used 4EO 919 887 C and haven't had any problems. Sounds to me like 4EO 919 888 C is a simple way of protecting their potential at lost revenue. I'm sure there are lots of common parts across all of Audi models. That's how car companies stay cost competitive by having common architecture that they can reuse across a large majority of their products. If your skeptical call more than one dealer and I'm pretty confident you'll run into the same issue I did when I was doing my due diligence. I got different answers from different dealers. If you get different answers I'd suggest asking the parts guy to elaborate on what the difference is between the modules. If they can't answer you can always ask for an electrical schematic showing the connections or a picture of the modules. BTW I have the schematic showing the connections and they are the same as the A6. Email me if you want a copy to bring to your dealer. If you do need help during the install I'm happy to assist anyone with any questions. ExB5S4owner 04-04-2007, 07:13 PM which one you're talking about, but I need to go into the trunk again and take a look (it's been about a month since I've gone underneath the trunk. I'll try and post a picture by the end of the weekend if I don't hear from you. For the nav module you'll need two connectors though. One is an optical connector with two round black cables coming out of it. The other is your typical 8pin plastic connector with multiple colored wires just visible before being wrapped in black protective shielding (tape). mnq7 04-04-2007, 07:14 PM went to that link and entered the specs for 20 and 18 inch wheels. The 18 diameter is .7" less than the 20 and results in a -2.4% error in the mileage. I will bring that up to the service department and find out if they had made the correction. Thanks again for the help. ExB5S4owner 04-04-2007, 07:22 PM Chitown Q7 04-05-2007, 06:40 AM You make a great point and I'm pretty sure I'll purchase the next module I come accross. I'm sure I'll take you up on your help with the install! |
