I bought my wife a 4.2 Q7 Premium for Christmas. Although she is the primary driver, I drive it on weekends and, well, pay the car payments and insurance and detail it for her every weekend. All she has to do is gas it up when I am not around.

Now she just loves the car. It replaced a piece of crap Ford Freestyle that was the only thing that sat 7 when we bought it. That car had replaced a Ford F150 truck, which had replaced my beloved Hummer H2, which she hated.

Alas, I picked the Q7 over the GL450. I actually thought the GL450 drove better and that it had a better third row (sorry), but I liked the looks of the Q7 more and the interior of the Q7 I liked better as well. Also, despite having owned 4 Mercedes before (including an ML), Audi seemed to want my business more than Mercedes so the Q7 became my first Audi. Just 2 months later I bought my Second Audi, an RS4 (I got jelous of my wife's smirk from her Q7 so got a smirk of my own).

My own feeling is that the Q7 is a great car. It is beautiful (though I should have talked her into the S-line, oh well), and is increadibly high quality. I like where Audi is going with designs. The navigation is better than either BMW or Mercedes (my RS4 one is even better). The rear view camera really useful (em, maybe my wife will finally learn to parallel park). I just love this car. The tranny could be better connected to the engine, but I am nitpicking now. Overall, this is an excellent ride, beautiful to behold, and I always feel I am driving a high end transporter when I am in it. The controls are well thought out.

I do wish they had a factory DVD option, because the aftermarket one the dealer put in the headrests leaves much to be desired. I really have no complaints and only prasies for this car though. The 19" wheels are cool. I do wish it had more power, but I always wish a car has more power. RSQ7 Anyone?

I drove it 200 miles a few weeks ago and it was fun. I enjoy driving this thing, which was not the case with the Ford. They can keep their 3.9% financing that hooked me into two of their cars (no complaints about the F150 though), cuz their last one was crap.

I wish we had gotten side assist as it does have a large blind spot. But then again I always wait for new options to wear in and iron out the bugs before I get them (not quite an early adopter).

My wife loves me again so all is good with the world and it is kind of cool to have two Phantom Black Audi's in the driveway.

Congratulations! I purchased an Audi because my girlfriend has one, and I have grown to truly appreciate the quality and design of Audi interiors. The exterior of the Q7 is also pretty unique and stylish - it does not look like a modified mini-van. I switched over from a Mercedes ML, and I am extremely pleased. Now we just need to see if Audi implements certain features which should have been offered initially, such as the AMI so that we can play music from our music gadgets.

to call Audi at some point on this. If it requres new hardware, it will not be worth it for me to change it and to pay full retail value on the new unit, since I plan on getting the AMI retrofit or Denison Gateway 500 installed. If new hardware is required and I can get it at a discounted price on ebay or in a junkyard, then I will likely purchase it.
