Anyone having issues with lag in the Q7 3.6 Premium when touching the gas pedal?
I make a turn and get no response from the gas pedal for a short period. So damn frustrating. Never had a vehicle that didn't respond when you touch the gas. It happens in S mode and manual triptronic as well and dealer has recommended to turn off ESP, although that doesn't help much. Dealer also says that this is inherent in Audi's. Is this true, if so, I just can't believe it. It is sporadic as well, doesn't always happen but driving in New York City becomes a big issue with problems like this. S.O.S.

I have heard complaints from 4.2 owners about this. Don't find it with my 3.6.

as in it adapts to your driving style and can be reset as if you are new driver. Try with your other key and see if there is a difference.

I have a friend with 5 series BMW who swears by resetting his car every month. He insists that his general drive to work in traffic every day makes his car laggy as hell.
Only thing is I dont know how to reset. But it must be possible as car does adapt.

I have it too. Can't determine why and it doesn't happen on any regular basis. I an depress pedal fully and nothing!

There have been a number of software releases by VW to help address this, so it's odd that it made it to the Q7. My 4.2 lags a little bit, but I can compensate for it by being more aggressive with the throttle or by using Tip mode.

seems to be a tough pedle to figure, sometimes I can start off smoothly, offer times, it's somewhat jerky.(best way I can describe this)

2nd that. (but it never lags if I stomp on it)

I did this with my A4 2.0T and did feel that it made a difference. I think the way it was done was to put the key in turning without starting and hold down the accelerator for 30 sec at which point you would hear a "sound" or click from the engine. I hope someone knows how to do it.

More important than this is the software updates that are being worked on, mine has already been updated once.

I have the 3.6 and if I gun it from a stop to make a right or left turn, it lags a little, but it definitely feels like this is from the ESP. With ESP turned off, no lag and a little inside rear wheel spin. This only happens to me when making a turn, otherwise, never from standing start in a straight line.

the throttle response is not as "instant" as it is in my [chipped] A4. The power delivery in the Q7 is smoother but not instantaneous. If I get on the throttle, however, the 4.2 is more than willing to respond. I have not had any experiences where I have depressed the accelerator and had no response from the car (i.e. 'death lag').

All in all, I have to say that I'm still quite satisfied with the V8.

I have suspected that the lag in the 4.2 is caused by the ESP system. The ESP seems to cut out acceleration attempts at times while it determines if there is any wheel slippage.

I just did some runs down the street with both ESP on and off all from a standing start. Straight line acceleration showed no difference with it on nor off. I did notice, however, as I have before, a lag making a turn from a stop with the ESP on. I did not notice the same with the ESP off. Keep in mind, I have the 3.6 so I am not sure if it is relevant to the 4.2

So much electronics in the car, maybe the ECU has learned this and you need an ECU reset.
