Q7 in Oz

As we wait for our Q7 to arrive in Australia we were hoping someone could explain how the electric towing hitch works and/or send pictures. We have no demo cars here, and the dealers have no idea. Very limited details in our brochures. Thanks in advance.

Does Australia use the European or North American standard for towing?

By standard, are you refering to towing weight allowances? The 5 seater 4.2 is allowed 3500kg while our 7-seater is allowed only 3200kg!?
Our salesperson told me that the towing hitch electrically swivels away when not in use, but I have yet to see or read anything about this feature. Can anyone help?

Hi,
from a german forum called motor-talk.de I found the homepage of one of the users, see the 6th row of photos and following for the electric hitch in german-version. With electirc hitch, there is no cover in the bumper like it would be with manual hitch.

The function is, that it electrically swings to the right side and then lifts up and is gone. Just the bumper is left "wide open" then.

The US have different specs and cannot have the electric version as it is not approved.
Also it is not available on the S-Line
Link is a google video of it in action.<ul><li><a href="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5542401609736701031&q=q7">http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5542401609736701031&q=q7</a</li></ul>

Many thanks. I was starting to think my dealer was pulling my leg! I guess it is one of those strange options we are given in Australia. I hope there is a cover for it. Any European owners out there that can advise?

Also many thanks for your help with the video. I am surprised that this option is not available in the US.

Jason, I wonder how many more surprises the Q7 will spring on us when they finally arrive in Australia? Is the 'running' board below the doors an option in the US?
