I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on my first step into the Audi family. My base lava gray with options puts the MSRP at $55K. The dealer suggested a "courtesy discount" of $1000. Somehow this seems fair given the novelty of a totally new model. Anybody else with a recent buying (ordering) experience? Thanks.

I just put my deposit down this past weekend. We didnt discuss much since we have to figure details of trading in the A8L. When we got into the A8L they gave me a $2k discount. Unsure if was b/c I am a repeat customer or just for the hell of it. I didn't ask for a discount. Didn't haggle over the price and I get a lower price than I was ready to pay. So go figure these dealers out.

Two metro NY area dealers are telling me there's no chance of anything lower than MSRP at this stage of the game, so $1K off MSRP seems like a very good deal. Where are you?

St. Louis. And I just gave the go-ahead for the order this afternoon. My order was their tenth -- or so they say. Now the wait.

Good luck to you. I'll probably be in myself in a few weeks or less. I have not seen the car in person yet, and despite loving all the photos, I just can't bring myself to order it until I've seen it in person. I may have an opportunity to see it in Europe in a few weeks though. As for price, who knows - these things might be growing on trees soon, especially if something causes a radical spike in gas prices.

Fearing the unfamiliar, I stuck with what I knew, or had seen, and chose what was at the auto show: lava gray/cardamom beige. Entering the car show and quickly hunting down the Q7 at the back I was surprised how much bigger it is. The front oozed an aggressive posture that the pictures haven't done justice. I was immediately out of the market for the new X5 this Fall.
