Socially responsible? Dude, I think you are out of touch with the marketing gimmick called a hybrid. It costs more energy to make them than they save. You can not recoup your gas savings because it's too expensive. Resale is unknown because of battery life. Dead batteries go into dumps, batteries take LOTS of energy to make, more than they save. All of that and you still get a v8 with only 13% savings over a traditional SUV.

I say, if you want to be socially responsible, get a bike, and go volunteer to clean up a beach. V8 Audi SUV's are not the path you are looking for.
