In a turbocharged car, is there any point to a cai? Is there any gain by lowering the intake temp a few degrees, since it will get super hot as soon as it goes into the turbo? Isn't it more important to cool air after leaving the turbo (intercooler)? Just wondering

to be honest, i have both and really dont notice a big difference in them. if your going to go big turbo then wait on the fmic until the big one comes out. all i can say is if your happier with the way your car runs in colder weather then the cai and fmic will get you that much closer..im thinking about heatwrapping down to the end of the test pipe.

I went K&N drop in cuz I didnt feel like spending $300 on an intake that will only give very minimal gains. The new TT intake is bigger than the 1.8 is and I like the fact that it is drawing air from the outside thru the grill and not from inside. Plus I want to keep my cover on too. But its your car and you are the one that drives it every day so make it the way you like it. Im going stealth this time around.

Where can i get the heat wrap? I need some now that i have completed the new testpipe and exhaust combo. Let me know.

so i would go to speed and truck world, but you can check a performance shop. they should sell it for like 50$/50ft or yards, not sure..but a friend of mine has a boosted tc and it holds the heat inside really good. im definatly doing it once i go bt..

I ended up going with a K&N drop in rather than a cai. Noticed a small change in sound, no noticeable power gain, but I wasn't expecting any. The temp. has been high 90s/over 100 every day since I installed it- that can't be helping things.
