I have a 06' Passat 2.0T and i have to admit i truly love the car and the engine is just great. It gives me great fuel millage and i just bought it after having my 00' Audi A6 2.8L V6 for quite a while, easy transition :). I am very and truly impressed by the performance (normal driving, long distance and performance) of the FSI engine! Only mods i did to this engine is put a K&N air filter and that was it. Now down to my question:

1. How reliable are these engines, would you say same as the 1.8T or better?

2. What is the estimated lifespan of the engine in miles or what is the highest millage report you have heart of?

I know all of these factors depend on the driver himself and his/hers driving habits. But lets just say under the normal driving conditions

I own the 1.8t with 114k and it runs great. I also am running 300+ HP at the crank so there is more stress on the stk internals. I have always used synth. oil and change 4-5k. I never add oil and engines fuel consumption continues to improve, (I have gone 450 miles on a tank).

Personally, I think the 2.0 is a better engine and should extend what the 1.8 started. They are making reliable HP at 350 on stock internals, (I have read using GT71r they are at 450 but would require internal work. This says a lot being able to add 150 extra HP to a stk engine, (what I have done with my 1.8) and be able to have it run for over 200K.

Keep oil changed and 250,000 miles should not be an issue.
