View Full Version : I've found the problem to my smoking...it's the turbo

so after a bunch of headaches I finally figured this out.

car was burning oil and it was coming from somewhere before the turbo because I have one bolt on the EM that I couldn't tighten and smoke was coming out of that crack. Then I thought if the turbo was bad it couldn't be the exhaust side because the coolant line runs to the hot half of the center section and the oil runs to the cold half. So the leak would need to be at the cold side and blowing through the intercooler, then burning up in the combustion chamber. So to eliminate that possiblity I pulled the cold side to intercooler hose off the turbo and oil poured out! I decided to try to run the car with the filter directly on the intake track (between the IC ad the turbo) and the car ran fine without any smoking.

So there we have it. my k26 is shot and I'm shopping for a replacement. If anybody has some cheap replacements let me know, I'm in the market.

btw, I appreciate all of your troubleshooting help.

Jon

Bang for buck, Garret GT30R or T04E/50 hybrid

If you want less lag, GT28R or T04E/40

I'm leaning towards the k26/T04E but I'd like the punch of a k24...so I don't know.
