View Full Version : anyone know a great page for the I5 NA rebuild? TurboEnvy52 11-21-2004, 05:43 PM I need all the nitty gritty details plz. -JIMMY DRAGON88 11-21-2004, 07:24 PM TurboEnvy52 11-21-2004, 11:22 PM Dwight V. 11-23-2004, 04:46 AM Is it ain't cheap! Not much special to know. Worst part is getting it in/out, and then paying for the parts and machine work. The rest is pretty simple, except for getting the timing belt tension juuuust right so the belt doesn't make a whirring sound (like mine does). TurboEnvy52 11-23-2004, 11:41 AM Dwight V. 11-24-2004, 04:08 AM Read up on engine rebuilding. You'll need the cylinders honed, 3 angle valve job, crank polished or ground, block decked, and then you can get into spending even more money on porting, polishing, special coatings etc etc. Slapping new rings and gaskets in it is not 'rebuilding'. Figure $1500 minimum (and I doubt that's possible) to properly rebuild an I-5. |
