I'm in the middle of my MC1 rebuild and Steve A. and I were discussing what head bolts to use. Seems some people have been having trouble with the ARP product and going back to the OE bolts. I work at the dealer so picking up the OE parts would be easiest. But I would go w/ the ARP parts if they are better.

Any insight is welcome as I have no experience in the quality of the ARP bolts.

Thanks in advance.... happy MONDAY :D

Plus you can't re-use them. I have had great luck using ARP head studs.

Why wouldn't you use studs? The newer ones have an allen broach on top so you can pull them out with the head on the car.

that a couple people were having problems with them and were considering using stockers next time...

I don't know if they were using the undercut ARP studs or not...

Anyways, I had good experience with Raceware studs.

to see if they are the reg. or undercut versions. But Han's D. runs the factory stretch bolts in this 900+hp 20vt golf and says the ARP were developed for iron on iron app's and the stretch bolts are better for aluminum over iron apps.
