I've got the 5spd from a 5000CS, what did you do about the linkage?

Currently updating years of neglected maintainence including:
-All new gaskets and hardware on cylinder head and manifolds,
-Repairing exhaust manifold,
-Engine mounts,
-Tune up (plugs, cap, rotor, wires and air filter),
-Cooling system replacement (Radiator, all hoses, heater valve, thermostat, thermoswitches/sensors, after-run relay, Pentosin antifreeze),
-Fuel filter,
-Fuel injectors (including shrouds and seals),
-Brake service (rotors, pads, braided SS lines, Super Blue brake fluid),
-Timing belt service (including water pump, tensioner, all gaskets and all accessory belts),
-breather noses,
-O2 sensor,
-idle stablizer valve

Only upgrades that I'm doing now are:
-K&amp;N filter
-BLAU 8mm wires
-ATE orbitally slotted rotors
-BLAU SS braided brake lines
-heat wrapping/bagging exhaust manifold, hot side of turbo and downpipe, gotta keep the heat where it belongs...

Within the next few months I will be installing a Force5auto chip, spring and intercooler strap along with a BPV... but first I have to get her running!

Originally I had the stock '84 tranny w/194,xxx miles on it after the MC swap. It crunched the 2nd gear syncros after about a year with the MC motor (granted it had seen a pretty long life). I currently have a rebuilt '87 tranny (complete w/hydraulic clutch swap &amp; a Qauife diff). So far so good.

...how much was your rebuild? I've heard all kinds of stories about the MC1 killing tranny syncros in a hurry. My current tranny isn't going to cut it, and I bought the turbo tranny believing it to bolt right in. Well, it does not. The linkage hooks up in a totally different place. I'm thinking about trying a turbo linkage, but maybe shorten it somehow.

At the time I had it done I also bought the Quaife diff and had the car converted from the cable clutch to the hydraulic clutch. I seem to recall spending in the ballpark of $4k to get it all up &amp; running.

The stock tranny should be able to handle the power. It really depends on milage and how its been treated over the years. From what I understand (and I may be wrong) the internals are the same as used on the URQ.

I suspect a rebuilt stock tranny would hold up ok. Mine had damn near 200k on the clock when it went out.

it's my daily so it needs to be rebiable and streetable. Other than the stuff in the sig, it's got Eibachs/ Bilsteins, boleros in the basement, and a dahlback intake on the way. I had a 1990 cq (#380), loved it, sold it with over 210,000 miles on it, maybe i should change my screen name...

Soon to have a custom made Air:Fuel meter with integrated adjustable fuel cut off, pressure switch with for fuel pump switch to full battery power with indicator LED, pressure switch for 6th injector with indicator LED. My intake air temp sensor has been relocated to the intake maifold and a cold start injector added to the intercooler where the sensor used to be.

See what happens, just dont be too hard on it. The synchros only wear when you shift gears (correct me if i'm wrong) So if you're easy with your start offs and shifts, it should take the power inbetween. So lets say it does blow up, who cares! ;) thats when you can go to plan B trying to figure out a stronger trans, but for now I'd have fun with what works easiest just so you can get that killa on the road! ;-)
