Hi, I have had a set of Cat Cams for over a year and am thinking about installing them. They have adjustible cam gears and an adjustible exhaust pulley. Is there anyone on this list running these or have experiance with installing them. I live in Michigan but would travel if there was a shop that could do the job and some custom tuning. Anyone? Thanks,

Elijah

While the motor's off the car, check piston to valve clearances.

The exhaust cam is turned by a toothed belt (like the 10v engine) and the intake cam is turned by a chain driven off the exhaust cam!

If you're going to rev the piss out of it, like 8000 rpms, then solid lifters and hot cams should be a real good time.

ive heard good reviews in general of cat.

i did a lot of cam talking when the loathsome blaufergnugen folk stuck me with a bad cam. i could rant Furiously but i know youre friendly w/them & will respect boundaries.

through my plight i found webcam (steve) to be most very helpful. he has a wealth of knowledge in specifically camshafts. he is also the one who analyzed my cam & found there to be improper base circle runoff that blaufergnugen played off with standard lines that did nothing but inspire me to find a lawyer to spend more money than its worth just to ...nevermind , i wont stop.

anyway, webcam is great but theyre in cali... but i trust their packaging abilities. the beat cam still sits safely through mailing 5 times and a home move.

the choice is yours, hope it all works for the best

I will probably try to get these in by the spring. The AAN'd coupe is just about finished as far as the engine being put in and 6 speed mounted so the next step will be to mount the tubular header and figure out a good exhaust setup, at this time I will get the cams mounted and start begging Mihnea for some special tuning. Hopefully by next spring I will have one hell of a monster coupe to learn how to drive.

The 20vT 3B and 7A uses that gear to turn the distributor, but on AAN/ABY/ADU engines the gear is not on the intake came because they don't use a distributor.. Although VERY few (mine) early AAN's had a cam driven cam position sensor.
