So I've had this car now for 20 days. I generally back down my driver and maybe out of a parking stall. Well yesterday I had to back up a hill and noticed the reverse is slipping bad. All the forward gears seem to work fine. Do you think a fluid change would fix this issue or is it rebuild time? I kind of have the dealer over a barrel so I might just end up giving the car back to them unless they give me some sort of extended warranty. The car is a 2001 with 51k.

The reverse gear piston is going (clutch F). It happened to a lot of 00' A6 A8.

I don't see a dipstick or anything anywhere. Looked in the manual and it mentions nothing.

Took it a day for the reverse to be completely unusable. Do you think a fluid/filter change would bring it back enough to get it to a shop or is it done?

Same thing happeed to my 01 A8L last spring [77,000 miles]. One day all of a sudden when backing up my driveway the transmission sarted shuddering and slipping. Forward gears worked just fine. Brought it to the dealer for repair and they replaced the whole transmisson under warranty.
