Recently took my 2004 A6Q with a 2.7T in to the dealer for an intermitent engine noise that sounded like a failing water pump - it wasn't - but the cam adjuster was replaced. Fine for about 200 miles - back with even more noise. Anyone had this issue and suggestions? Car has 20K miles, manual, trans, and well maintained.

if the cam adjuster really goes, then it take the timing belt with it and..well you have heard of the term "interference engine" haven't you?

FOrtuantly you are under warranty. Stay on the dealer reall strong.. it can be major.

It's been at the dealer for about a month now because they won't touch it unless they hear the noise themselves. The problem is that it is intermittent and they can't replicate it. Even though it threw a code AND I have it on video doing it. They said it could be the tensioner that they just replaced or a soleniod that sends oil to the tensioner. If you have any luck please drop me an email. I think I have to get AoA involved at this point.
