I looked over the Audi S4 engine self-study doc. the moderator posted previously. (BTW: it's great background info on the 2.7! Thanks!)

- On pg 5 of that doco, the diagrams show different torque curves by model.

Didn't all U.S. cars with the 2.7 liter have 250hp/258ft-lbs stock (A6, S4, allroad)? That guide indicates two versions: 195kW/400Nm for the S4 and 169kW/310Nm for the A6.

2.7 V6 Self-Study Guide

And in Europe, the A6 2.7T varients are detuned compared to the S4 and US A6 engines.

...unfortunately, that means when you S4 guys are faster than me, it's really me that's the problem, not the car. Aargh!

(I can feel my resistance to the Dark Side is crumbling!)

...and the A6 2.7T in Europe then only made 230hp, running on lower octane gasoline too. With a 2.7T essentially being 1.5x a 1.8T, and the original 1.8T rated at 150hp, 230hp seems right in line.
