Hey guys,
i purchased a 2006 A6 from a dealer in chicago, il yesterday and drove it to saint louis with no issues. on my way back to columbia, mo i felt some sort of sputtering with the engine and my engine light briefly came on (i have felt this sputtering before in my last car which was a 2000 lincoln ls which turned out to be an ignition coil). i know that 2 weeks ago an ignition coil was replaced so i am thinking this was possible it. I am at 49,540 miles so am still under warranty. under warranty is there any deductible? also would something of this nature be covered under my warranty? i realize that cars are very expensive to maintain and am looking into extended warranty's, anyone have any suggestions? thanks1!!!!!!!

I have an '05 A6 with an extended warranty provided by AFS when I bought the car at lease end. My 2 other Audis ('02 S8 and '04 3.2 TTR) are covered by warranties I bought from Bruce Mendel. He is a dealer who locates cars for people and reps warranties from a couple of companies. He's gotten cars and provided warranties at very reasonable prices to a lot of folks on AW with very positive recommendations. If I were looking for a warranty, I look him up as he'll give you some good info, whether you choose to deal with him or not. He posts as Bruce M and can usually be found on the D2 or allroad boards.

Don't know about your sputtering problem without a little more info. Your car has a drive by wire throttle system and doesn't like to have the brake pedal depressed while hitting the gas (occasionally a problem for me since I left-foot brake). If it's occurring just off idle when starting off, that may be your problem.

Also, there really isn't an engine forum for us. The VR6 engine is the transverse narrow V6 found in the TT, not the longitudinal V6 in the A6. You'll probably get better response to questions by posting in the C6 A6 forum.
