The front page has info on the milage challenge and the mpg of the various Audi vehicles participating. My reaction is simply - get those cars into the US as fast as you can Audi!!! Really!

"The other Audi models likewise made a very impressive showing, first and foremost the Audi A3 2.0 TDI developing 103 kW (140 hp), with S tronic transmission. Its best fuel consumption figure was less than five liters per 100 kilometers (in excess of 47.04 US mpg). The best team in an Audi A4 3.0 TDI quattro achieved just under six liters per 100 kilometers (in excess of 39.2 US mpg), while the new performance SUV Audi Q5 3.0 TDI quattro delivered sensational proof of its efficiency, at 6.2 liters per 100 km (37.94 US mpg)."

I drove Q7 3.0 TDI Q for 6 months
and here what I have recorded (~ 40% city 60% hwy)
City avg: 17 l/100 (13 mpg)
Hwy avg: 8.9 l/100 (26 mpg)
Combine: 12 l/100 (19 mpg)

I have drove as well A4 2.0 FWD and 3.0 Q tdi
for 2.0 6-speed standard FWD
City avg: 7 l/100 (33 mpg)
Hwy avg: 4.6 l/100 (51 mpg)
Combine: 5.5 l/100 (42 mpg)

3.0 Q TDI tip

City avg: 11.8 l/100 (19 mpg)
Hwy avg: 6.4 l/100 ( 36 mpg)
Combine: 8.4 l/100 ( 28 mpg)

It would be best if Audi brings 2.0 TDI first as oppose 3.0 TDI, as I see no benefit to switch from gas to diesel on V6 engines

Our MY6.5 VW Jetta 1.9TDI w/DSG gearbox is not the newest 2.0 common rail diesel; however it's relevant to the real world MPG of modern diesels. In a Real World, A/C running, hot/warm ambient temperatures etc, environment our Jetta records anywhere btw a low of 32 MPG to a high of 45 MPG.

A two year 40k mile pen and paper fuel fillup history records a 36.3 MPG average with a split 75/25% (approx.)city/hwy. Around town-city is often 34-37 MPG.

A couple of ATL - DEN - ATL road trips consistantly pull in 41-44MPG while running at hwy speeds 70-75MPH. Respectable. . . The same roadway running at 80-85MPH drops the MPG to the 39-41MPG range.

Now if AoA would offer the similar/same (Jetta)chassis'ed Audi A3 w/2.0 diesel - I'd be a buyer in a heartbeat.
