View Full Version : PIC: A4 DASH with Navigation System (available in Germany) joechang 11-25-1998, 07:20 AM Scanned from an A4 options catalog I got from an Audi Showroom in Berlin. More pictures as I crop and upload...
-joe Chris T. 11-25-1998, 07:26 AM T2 11-25-1998, 07:26 AM Interesting... noticed the A6 cupholder placement (don't like it over the stereo & climate control due to spills). Climate control buttons moved around (and a ECON feature?)...
Tom RobS 11-25-1998, 07:27 AM joechang 11-25-1998, 07:37 AM Saw a demo of this while I was there:
-Nav System screen serves as a TV and Menu System
-Radio is therefore shown on the screen, controlled with buttons to left and right
-Screen tilts/swivels for best view
Not sure if the TV works while you're driving, but that's quite a "safety-feature" :).
-joe Chris T. 11-25-1998, 07:56 AM That is a lot of small buttons clustering together. It will make selecting the right radio stations and other options not easy. If it was a touch screen then may be it will be worthwhile. Send this to the U.S. Send it with the TV option and i'll try to trade in my 1998 A4 as soon as its available. Even if the TV only works while the vehicle is stationary i'll still do it. Audi has the operatunity(sp) to be the first to offer this in America. CH 11-25-1998, 10:04 AM Actually, there are many standard din-sized unit available right now. It's looks like a normal CD player and push a button...viola! It slides out and you can flip up the tv/gps/etc any which way. Only a few come with tuners..it wraps around the rear window. Really slick, I'll post pictures when I get mine! Haven't you seen van conversions that have more monitors than a Circuit City?
randall 11-25-1998, 04:49 PM i guess the stereo is built into the nav system.
i wonder why they put a NAV input on the current CONCERTs then??

i wonder how difficult it would be to retro a US/CDN spec car
1996 a4 2.8
ps i love this center console!!!!
ChuckH 11-25-1998, 11:59 PM The econ setting is like straight ventilation. The compressor is, of course, off in this setting. Better, and less confusing than having the snowflake button to toggle the compressor off and on. The off button is also a nice touch. Basically, this system is more like the older systems, such as in my '89, 90Q, in some ways. I think the seat heater switches next to the climate control make sense. I do agree on the placement of the cupholder. Of course, the whole idea of the cup holder is to avoid spills. I wonder if Audi will cover repairs to the stereo if your latte spills all over it. Could you claim that there was a defect in the cupholder?
Charles
ChuckH 11-26-1998, 12:03 AM ...if this works the same way as my 90Q, then the only settings that will operate without the compressor are "ECON," and "OFF." So, there would be no way to have it set on defrost or auto, or whatever without having the compressor activated. Works great on my 90Q! :-)
Dantley 11-26-1998, 09:56 AM You comment is contradictory... all passangers can see the TV as long as the driver can't... hence why a mounted TV can't be in the front cockpit of a vehicle. |
