View Full Version : At what mileage interval is it recommended that Spark Plug Wires be changed? I am guessing that at since I am at 60k it might be a good idea to change them and the plugs...since I have a stumble when I put the car in park etc. Anyone have suggestions for what wires to get? Magnacore, ECS OEM or aftermarket? They are all around $150. ATL2.8Qmmm 07-28-2005, 10:52 AM I had a flashing MIL when I stepped on the gas not too long ago, so I pulled the plug wires off to see if there was oil in the plug area. This was the cause of the last flashing MIL. There wasn't any and so I got the multimeter out and checked the impedence in the wires. When I pulled the one wire off the ignition coil it broke the terminal and so I had to get a set on a Sunday afternoon. Napa had them but when I got them home they were wrong (for the wrong engine code). I went back and said that they were wrong and asked them to see if 2001 had a different part number (mine is a 2000) and they said it did. I had to go to the main napa distribution center to get them but they cost about $130. Changed that and the plugs with bosch +2 (similar to the NGKs) and the MIL stopped flashing and everything was good. Seat of the pants said I got some HP back too. llonman 08-29-2005, 08:17 AM #1 wire went bad at 144K..24.99 each at Valley Motors. I think Ill replace them one at at a time. :--) |
